One Year with Research Peptides: My Story of Transformation (Disclaimer: FDA Disclaimer Required)
Trigger Warning: This blog discusses topics including weight loss, eating disorders, medication, and alcohol.
Hey everyone,
It's been one year since I officially dipped my toes into the world of research peptides, and boy, what a year it's been! Buckle up, because I have a story to tell.
Now, let's preface this by saying my weight loss journey hasn't been a walk in the park. I've battled the scale my entire life, from my pre-kid low of 139lbs to a post-baby high of 250lbs. Phentermine from shady internet sources? Check. Bizarre caffeine-aspirin-bronkaid concoctions from early weight loss forums? Yup, did that too. Research peptides, in comparison, didn't even faze me.
After my mommy makeover surgery in 2021, I ballooned back up. I looked like a real-life Spongebob – swollen but with a flat tummy courtesy of the surgery. Looking back, I should have prioritized losing weight before going under the knife, but nothing budged. Postpartum struggles and undiagnosed ADHD didn't help either.
Finally, late last fall, I found a PCP and got properly medicated for my ADHD and anxiety. Feeling mentally stable for the first time in years, I decided to give weight loss another shot. My med spa offered Semaglutide for a whopping $600 per month. Now, I love my skin, but I couldn't justify that cost on top of fillers, Botox, and now weight loss meds.
Reddit came to the rescue. After researching different options due to my six-month stall on Sema, I started with Tirzepatide (Tirz). It worked for a while, then stalled for months. Adding Retatrutide (Ret) to the mix finally broke the stall and brought back the much-needed appetite suppression (key for a binge eater like me).
But like all good things, the effectiveness wore off. Did I give up? Nope! I decided to cycle back onto Semaglutide at a lower dose (cheaper too!), and guess what? It worked again! The appetite suppression is back, baby!
Now, beyond the weight loss (haven't weighed myself lately – it's a trigger!), peptides have brought about other unexpected changes:
-
Goodbye, booze! I wasn't much of a drinker, but when I did, it was binge-tastic and concerning. Since peptides, haven't even craved it. Turns out, I was self-medicating with alcohol in social situations.
-
Hello, social butterfly! My anxiety used to keep me away from people like the plague. Not anymore! I even attended a vendor event in November – something unimaginable before peptides.
Disclaimer: I'm not saying peptides are magic pills or that their effects are universal. Everyone's body and experience is different. And let's be clear, the FDA hasn't approved research peptides for weight loss or any other medical use. Use them at your own risk and with proper research.
As for me, I plan on incorporating peptides into my life for the foreseeable future. They've helped me break free from unhealthy behaviors, embrace social interactions, and even manage my ADHD symptoms (bonus!).
This, my friends, is my story. I hope it sheds a light on the world of research peptides, a world I once found scary but now view as a potential tool for positive change.
Remember, everyone's journey is unique. Do your research, listen to your body, and never be afraid to seek professional help if needed.
Peace out, A Peptide Pilgrim
P.S. I'm also experimenting with other peptides like BPC-157, NAD+, and GHK-Cu. More on those later!
P.P.S. Disclaimer again: Do your research and talk to your doctor before trying any peptides. This is just my story, not medical advice.
I hope this blog post provides a helpful and informative perspective on research peptides while adhering to the necessary FDA disclaimer. Remember, individual experiences can vary, and it's crucial to conduct thorough research and consult with healthcare professionals before considering any peptide use. Thanks for reading!
